Find out in this episode why Erik goes to our office on Saturday.
Erik J. Olson (00:00):
Coming in on a Saturday, what is happening? This is Erik J. Olson. Yeah. It’s Saturday. It’s actually July 30th, 2022. And I’m here again. I didn’t, I don’t think I came in last Saturday, but I came in the Saturday before I needed to record some of these episodes and just get some stuff done. So I, I posted about this on Twitter and it led to a thread and some conversation about why I’m doing it and why maybe others would want to do it as well. And a little bit of pushback from people saying that you shouldn’t have to do that. But like I come in here occasionally on a Saturday so that I can get important projects done that I, I need to get done because a lot of times during the week, my week is just filled with meetings and I’ve got personal stuff to do. And I’ve got all these things going on and I meet with clients.
Erik J. Olson (00:49):
I meet with a lot. I talk to my staff a lot, like all the time and I’ve got just other shit I gotta do. And I don’t have time. I just, I literally run out of time to do like anything that’s important. Cause I’m dealing with the urgent and, and frankly, I, I don’t like it, but it is what it is. And so I have a choice to make. I could either do nothing on the, like, like on the weekends, the weekends come and I’m like, I, I don’t know. I mean, I could cut the grass, but certainly like in the wintertime, there’s just like not a lot to do like, and I, I feel guilty and I feel stressed actually about not doing anything. Cause I know that these projects are important for the company. And I have goals. We have a goal of growing this agency to, to $100 Million by 2030.
Erik J. Olson (01:37):
And that’s not gonna happen just by me coming in Monday through Friday nine to five and putting on fires. Like it’s just, it’s just not gonna happen. So I have a choice. Do I do something about it extra or do I just say, well, I, I don’t, I don’t work on the weekends. So I come in every once in a while and this isn’t hard work it’s for it’s for a couple of hours. I knock some important stuff out. So like I’m interested in know, like what do you do? Do you ever work on the weekends? And if so, how much or how it do you have any rules around? It hit me up on social media. I hang out on Instagram. You can find me, @iamerikjolson on Instagram. You can find me @erik.j.olson. So E R I K dot J dot O L S O N. Hit me on either one of those. Let’s talk. Tell me your thoughts about working on Saturdays and I’d love to have a conversation with you.
