Have you heard of the phrase influencer marketing? It’s somewhat new as far as social media goes, but it’s really an old concept. You can do influencer marketing online, or you can do it in the real world. Let’s go into detail about both forms of influencer marketing
Influencer Marketing In the Real World
In the real world, you can do influencer marketing by finding out which influencers are in your industry, or area, and connecting with them. You then have the ability to let them know about the products or services that you offer. If you are successful, and you talk to someone who has some sort of position, authority, or trust in the community, and you get your message across properly to them – then they will convey that message to people who find them to be an authority figure or trustworthy. What you’ll get is effective referrals as well as good referrals from influencers.
Now, how can you get referrals from influencers? Meet up with them. Take them out for a drink, take them to breakfast, coffee, go to lunch. Today I have a lunch with an influencer and it’s a pretty important lunch for me, so I got a little more dressed up than usual. I don’t think I’m going to walk away with a deal, but that’s not why I’m going. I’m just going to let this influencer know about the products and services that Array Digital offers, that’s it.
Online Influencer Marketing
With online influencer marketing, you seek out individuals who have a following. Typically these followers will have a topic that they’re focused on. It could be nutrition, fitness, social media, or thousands of other things. What you need to do is find your industry or topic that is pertinent to what you are selling, and then go seek out the influencers in that industry.
Once you find them, you can reach out directly. There is also a couple of websites, software, and service packages out there that create a marketplace between influencers, products, and brands that want to connect with influencers. Once you find them, you’re going to pay them. So be prepared to pay them a fee in order to mention your product. You may have to send them your product if it’s physical, and certainly they’ll need to know a little bit about your product before they actually tell their followers about it. Once you’ve done this type of influencer marketing, you’ve established a little bit of credibility in a space where maybe you didn’t have credibility.
What to Take Away
Whether it is in the real world or online, influencer marketing can be very beneficial within any scope of a business. Influencers allow you to gain a new niche of customers that you would not be able to find anywhere else. Next time you’re in a sticky situation and don’t know quite how to get your product out there in the real world, think about influencer marketing.
