Get ready for a pivot.
So one of the things that’s really important in business is to be very aware of what’s going on in the environment and with your clients and the people that are your audience. We realized with this podcast and flash briefing that a lot of the things that we’re talking about here are actually about entrepreneurialism much more so than marketing.
Why We Are Pivoting
Now, we just happen to be a digital marketing agency. So for us, marketing and entrepreneurialism go hand in hand. But for a lot of our customers, we don’t think that’s the case. What we’ve done is we’ve merged these two concepts into one series that really targets two different audiences.
As an example, we have the Marketers Anonymous meetups where we put on in person events for marketers and we talk about marketing topics, right? These are things like SEO and OTT and all these marketing things that we talk about.
Well, entrepreneurs just don’t really care about that. They care about the results, but they don’t really care about the low level marketing topics on the reverse side.
If I were to talk about things that have to do with entrepreneurialism like employees and things like customer care and things that just have nothing to do with marketing, then it’s going to have less of an impact for marketers. Marketers generally are more interested in marketing than in entrepreneurialism.
For me, I have those two traits combined into one and what we need to do is separate those two things out so that we have well defined audiences that we’re talking to. So what we don’t want to be doing is tiptoeing with these different audiences and trying to create one generic message that applies to both.
Two New Podcasts – Marketers Anon and Journey to $100 Million
So we’re going to actually pivot this series into two different series.
Marketers Anonymous will remain as a podcast, but that format is going to change. It’s going to be the talks that we record at the Marketer’s Anonymous meetups. There could be other things in there like interviews with marketers, but it’s going to be 100% marketing focus.
If you’re listening to this on a podcast platform, everything is going to remain the same except the frequency is going to change and the message is going to be streamlined for marketing.
We are also creating a new podcast called Journey to $100 million. Now this is the entrepreneurial aspect that we’ve been talking about in the Marketers Anon podcast, so it’s going to be a brand new podcast called the Journey to $100 million.
There’s going to be a website called the Journeyto100million.com, and that’s going to be 100% on entrepreneurialism.
Now as part of entrepreneurialism, if there is something that is marketing related that is applicable, we will talk about it there as well.
If you’re listening to this as a flash briefing, we are going to attempt to update the flash briefing from Marketers Anonymous to Journey to 100 Million. If that works, you won’t have to take any action. If it doesn’t work, we may be coming on and asking you to search for the new flash briefing.
Marketers Anonymous as a flash briefing will be going away. It just doesn’t make sense anymore. Marketers Anonymous will be a podcast weekly. Journey to $100 Million will be daily, and that will be a flash briefing and a podcast.
Pivoting – Don’t Wait When You Know What to Do
I know it’s probably a little bit confusing. It’s kind of confusing to us as well, but these pivots are important and once you realize that it’s time to pivot, it’s super important to take action whether it’s in a podcast series or some aspect of your marketing or some other aspect of your business.
Once you realize that it’s time to pivot, don’t put off the action. That’s a mistake that we see a lot of times. People think, think, think, think about it. They never do anything about it. We’ve thought about it, we’ve talked about it, and were convinced this is the right course of action, and it’s better to do it now when we have fewer listeners than a later when we have hundreds of thousands.
