When Erik was in Miami last July for a real estate summit by Grant Cardone, he signed up for 3 different programs in addition to the event he attended. Find out the reasons why Erik decided to sign up for these programs.
Erik J. Olson (00:02):
I signed up for a whole bunch of coaching. What is happening? This is Erik J. Olson. When I was down in Miami, in July, I went to a real estate summit for it was put on by Grant Cardone. And he has a lot of different programs. He’s a pretty dynamic person as far as real estate investing sales and growing businesses. And we signed up, I signed this up for like three different programs while I was down there in addition to the event that I was down there for. So let me kind of step you through the three programs and kind of explain why. So the first one is called 10X 360. This is put on by an offshoot of grants empire called Cardone ventures. What 360 is, is it’s a, an evaluation of your company to determine what is holding you back from massive growth.
Erik J. Olson (01:04):
Now it encompasses a two day in person event where we’ll go through things like finances, HR, marketing, et cetera, establish our goals. And we walk out of there with a I think it’s the 90 day, or maybe it’s a nine month, but we come out, we walk outta there with a plan, an actual action plan of what we’re going to do going forward. Now I decided to do this because I mean like, like Kevin and I we’re involved in, in a lot of different organizations. The entrepreneurs organization is one of ’em where we get a, some of this information, but we don’t really have, like, you know, we’re, we’re kind of winging it sometimes when it comes to the growth of our business. Like, and what I mean by that is not like marketing. We, like, we got that nailed, we got sales nailed.
Erik J. Olson (01:56):
But what I mean is like, how do we structure the company? I still, I have a lot of questions about like, how should I be structuring the company now for growth in the next year, two years, five years? Like, what kind of positions do I need? What am I lacking when it comes to people, resources, processes. There’s a lot of unknowns and, and I’m not here at Array Digital just to like get a paycheck and status quo. Like I wanna build a huge company and I’ve never done it before. We’re at about $4 million of revenue right now between Array and Rival Digital. This is the biggest company I’ve ever led buy a long shot. So like, I, there’s a lot of unknowns and I want, I want us to be double the revenue in a year. That’s massive growth, right. I have to change my mindset and I don’t have a coach that can, that can help me at that level. I have coaches for lower level stuff. As an example, sales, we have a sales coach. Okay, great. But, but not like how to build a big company.
Erik J. Olson (02:58):
So that’s one thing we did is the 10 X 360. The other thing that I did is I joined the real estate mastermind club. So once a week, we get together everyone in the club and we talk about real estate and we look through deals and it’s also a club where invest, these are all investors. They are evaluating individual apartment deals. And they’re determining if they’re a good deal or not what the price should be. And then also, if anyone was, is interested in funding, the deal, becoming a partner of the deal, that’s an opportunity to become a partner in a deal or to get partners for your deal. So I’m very much into real estate now, and that is something I want to invest in because I, and this is me doing the, the real estate club, not Array, but I did it because I am lacking deals.
Erik J. Olson (03:46):
I’m lacking. I, I, I have a restriction. I can, if I were to do it myself, I’m lacking deals. I can only really look at deals that are in my market, which is Northridge, Virginia Beach. Cause I just don’t have the time or patience or wherewithal to travel outside of the market to go to go look at deals. And, and I’m limited by finances like Array Digital funds, me and the profits from array digital go into my real estate. But you know, it, it just takes time to build up those funds. So I’m limited by those things. And the club can help me with those things. The final thing that we invested in is what’s called 10 X stages stages being like the stage that you speak from like a stage in front of a, a crowd S T A G E, that is something that Kevin and I are going to do.
Erik J. Olson (04:35):
And that is in particular so that we can fine tune our message that we give to the world. Right? And I’ve been talking to Kevin about this for a while. Like I have a list of, of talks that I can give to a crowd. He has a list of talks that he can give to a crowd. Sometimes when we give a talk, we create a custom talk, but what we really would need, and what we really want is where we both give the exact same talk about how we help companies, how we help them grow, how we help them scale, how we, you know, can get you more business attention in, in the marketplace, et cetera, and get you more leads. And so we need to refine that message and nail us that he and I are on the same page and we’re given the same talk every single time.
Erik J. Olson (05:21):
So it’s a two day event. Day one is we’re gonna nail that, that messaging and our pitch. And then day two is where they’re gonna help us get the message out online, through podcasts, interviews, articles, stuff like that. So I’m very excited. It’s a lot to take in. It’s a lot of change, but you know what, like you have to push the envelope. If you want to grow, you can’t just come into your, the office every single day and be like, yeah, what, whatever comes up today is what I’ll work on now. Like you need to actually proactively push yourself to do more. Cuz if you don’t push yourself, no one’s gonna push you. So that’s what I’m doing. I’m pushing myself, I’m pushing the company. We are pushing into the future.
