When it comes to Search Engine Optimization (SEO), there are two main kinds – the organic and local SEO. In this episode, Erik shares the importance of local SEO.
Erik J. Olson (00:00):
The importance of local SEO.
Hey there, this is Erik J. Olson. So when it comes to SEO search engine optimization, there are two main flavors of it. One is organic. That is basically what you think of when probably what you think of when you think of SEO, which is across the entire internet effectively, I’m really oversimplifying, but organic is like across the whole internet or like the whole region or a state, a big, big area. Local SEO is where you have search engine optimization in a radius around your office. That radius is about three to five miles, maybe six miles. And it uses completely different tactics to get you rankings that far around your office. Now that may sound like a small amount of space of area of geography, three to five to six miles, but let’s say your local SEO reaches out to five miles to five mile radius.
Erik J. Olson (01:06):
How much area is that really? Because it sounds kind of small, right? Well, let’s do the math. What is the area of a circle? Do you remember that back from high school geometry, I guess it is the area of a circle is PI R squared. P is 3.14. The radius is five for five miles. So we’re gonna square that square five to 25, multiply by three times one point 0.14, that is roughly 75 square miles. So local SEO gets you high coverage, very valuable coverage in a 75 square mile around your office. I mean, that’s incredible. There are several techniques that we apply here and it’s not just Google my business, which is actually called Google business profile. These days. That’s a component of, but that’s, that’s just one of many, many, many components of it. There’s schema translations. There’s there’s geographically bound webpages on your website.
Erik J. Olson (02:08):
There’s a whole bunch of other things that I’m not gonna share with you right now because that’s kind of our secret sauce, but we can get you very, very high rankings, very close to your office. And there’s a lot of people in this world. And I mean a lot who prefer to do business locally. It’s a perfect market for you to tap into, but you can only do it if you excel at local SEO. Now here’s the good news. The cost for local SEO is significantly less than the cost for organic SEO. Like I said, it is a different set of tactics, but it’s very, very powerful and we have invested in it very much. And so of our clients and that we’re all seeing great results. So if you haven’t looked into local SEO, I would highly encourage you to, especially if you serve a local market, it’s very, very powerful.
