Erik J. Olson (00:01):
Book review The Automatic Marketing Machine by RJon Robins and Danny Decker. What is happening? This is Erik J. Olson. Yeah. Another book down. So this one is called The Automatic Marketing Machine. Now, the reason that I bought this is because one of the authors, RJon Robin, is the founder of a mastermind for a law firm. Owners called How to Manage a Small Law Firm. sAnd so when I was looking into how to manage a small law firm, I realized that he authored a book and I’m like, Oh, I bet this is gonna be pretty interesting. Because I think what they’re doing at how to manage a small law firm is also very interesting. So went ahead and got the book.
(00:45):
Very pleased with it. This is very, it much aligns with a lot of other lead generation books that I have read starting with Dan Kennedy. He Is One God, there’s so many others, but this has a lot of that same flavoring with the concept being, what you’re really trying to do when it comes to generating leads is put something out in the world where your ideal prospect will raise their hand and say, Oh, that’s me. I’m interested. And they’ll download something of value. It doesn’t cost them any money, but it does cost them their contact information. So in order to get this thing, this lead generation magnet, they need to provide you with something of value cuz you’re providing them with something of value. The magnet, the lead generation magnet, the thing you’re offering is valuable. So what you want in exchange is their name and phone number and email.
(01:42):
Maybe just their name and email, maybe just their email. But what you wanna do is, since this is the automatic marketing machine, once you have their email, you’re gonna follow up. And it’s interesting because there’s actually something in the book saying like, Hey, if you need vetted marketing agencies, go to this page. And I went to the page and there were none. There were no vetted marketing agencies. So I submitted a form and I said, Hey, I want to be vetted. I haven’t heard back yet, but I did get their automatic marketing machine in action. I started getting email drips and the email drips were actually very good, very good sales copy and it’s sales copy that I have in similar tones about pointing out pain points and problems and how if you join this organization, how to manage, then they can help you with those pain points. So I actually saw it in action, but I got a lot of very actionable things out of here. So lemme just kind of look at some of these chapters in the table of contents and see what jumps out. So chapter one, let’s cut the BS and make your small business more profitable. Now this is really interesting. I’ve also listened to a couple of his talks where he really goes into like, Hey,
Erik J. Olson (02:58):
You gotta be profitable. You gotta find a way to be profitable. You need to become friends with your numbers. You need to understand where your money’s going, where it’s being spent how much you’re making on each service and things like that. Why most small business marketing doesn’t work and what to do about it. I mean, honestly, a lot of times people just kind of throw money at the internet. Third party directories. Remember these old directories back in the 1990s and early two thousands where you could buy a link and a directory and then they’re supposed to drive traffic to you. People are still paying for that stuff, especially in the law is crazy. A lot of money in some cases, like a lot, thousands, tens of thousands of dollars they’re paying for a listing on a director is crazy. Doesn’t make any sense. So there’s a lot in here about why you need an automatic marketing machine, how not really like the mechanics of it, but why what to do with it, how it benefits you.
(04:03):
But the point here is that what you want is to build a machine where people are raising their hands and then they’re constantly being fed with the next thing in the sales funnel. The next thing in the sales funnel is schedule a consultation. So first you give them something of value. That lead generation magnet, it doesn’t cost them money, but it does cost them their contact information. And then you automatically follow up and to the point where they say, Now I’m ready to talk to you. And it reminds them the whole way that you exist and that you can help with their pain points. And then when they raise their hand, finally again saying, I’m interested in the consultation, then the sales process starts. Great book. It does reference how to manage a decent amount, which is law based, but this is not a law based book at all. I would definitely check it out.
