Kevin Daisey (00:01):

Stop wasting money on top of funnel leads. What’s up everybody. It’s Kevin Daisey here. So I say stop wasting money on top of funnel leads. So these are people that are not looking for your service. They happen to be on Facebook or YouTube or another website, and they see your ad and you try to get them to download an ebook or something, to get some awareness about what you have to offer, and you eventually want to nurture them and have them purchase your service or product. Now, I think this is a great tactic and it works for us. And why I’m saying stop. It is not because it doesn’t work. But what I’m saying is if you’ve not done anything, so this is gonna be like for a law firm or,a service type business, especially one that’s locally focused. So if you have a law firm or an H V C company, anything like that, where it’s a town, a city, a region, and you’re building up your presence, let’s say a divorce attorney.

Kevin Daisey (01:12):

If you’re in that business and you shouldn’t be doing those top of funnel things and less, you have just done everything you can to get the high intent, lower down the funnel folks. So imagine I go to Google 97% of people search on Google when looking for a service locally, especially so 97% of people go and they search for, let’s say a divorce attorney near me, my city, my town, whatever those folks, based on their search and based on their geographic location are probably the person that you want to talk to. They are looking for you already. And so what I see, I just had a law firm that I was talking to that is doing top of funnel, all these eBooks and downloads and stuff like that. And those are great, but that’s all they’re doing. They’re not their, website’s not great. They’re not being found locally.

Kevin Daisey (02:10):

They don’t have SEO. They’re not doing Google ads. So they’re missing out on all the hot potential people that are already looking for ’em. Instead they’re putting all their money, their whole budget on people that are not looking for them. So if I don’t need an estate plan, or I’m not looking for one, I’m probably need one, right? I need a will trust, right? But I’m not currently looking for one. They might be in the back of my mind. I might need to do it, but I’d rather spend my money and time on the person. That’s they know it. They’ve already decided. Now they just have to find someone to do the work for them. And whoever shows up is gonna get the work. So don’t do those high top funnel tactics until you feel like you’ve done a really good job

Kevin Daisey (02:59):

At showing up organically Google ads and for people doing the searches right now, today that want your service play there. First get most of that market share first, then how do we go even more? Okay. Now let’s talk about Facebook ads and top of funnel and social media. And downloadables eBooks, LinkedIn, all this other stuff that you can do to drive awareness. And some people come into your website and they go, oh, okay, well, I don’t even know why I need a will. Let me check a look. Here’s the things you should think about. And then you have a call to action to contact that firm and, and, and talk to someone so you can get an idea of what it would cost, what it would take. So focus on the high intent people that need you now capture that first. There’s gonna be high quality leads, most qualified leads that are ready to buy now.

Kevin Daisey (03:54):

And again, based on the search terms that you’re going for and, and stuff like that, you can weed out all the other stuff. Like if someone has just a random question or they’re just doing some research, maybe they have, maybe they’re another attorney looking for a search based on something in their, in their, their state, right? If you’re paying for the wrong words or working on SEO for the wrong words, you’re gonna get a lot of those junk you know, impressions and, and clicks high intent. They need you now focus on that first, dominate that, then look out how you can invest more in other marketing tactics.
