When we first started hiring employees at Array Digital, a large part of an employee’s first day was spent on administrivia. In episode 249 of Journey to $100 MIllion, listen in as Erik explains how we streamlined this onboarding process for new employees.
On the first day, each employee is introduced to the staffers and clients and also informed on the basics of the company. One of the most time-consuming tasks associated with new hires is filling out forms. Unfortunately, this can be viewed as a waste of an employee’s time, especially when they are just getting started.
As a result, Erik decided to start sending these new employees a link to all of these different forms that needed to be filled out. In doing that, the employee already had these forms filled out at the start of their first day, and are able to start work more quickly. With this process, we avoid wasting half of their first day filling these out and being unproductive. If you are hiring employees, send them what they need to fill out in advance. Then, when they walk through the door, they can get right to work!
